Temporary installation. Complete

(Gary Butler and Sarah Wigglesworth)
As part of a feasibility study and consultation exercise for a Sports Hall at University College London, Gary Butler and Sarah Wigglesworth produced a temporary installation analysing perceptions of sport and its cultural and political significance.
The installation created a space where the imagery of sporting stars and physical perfection were set against the experience of materials and objects - a huge block of split stone engraved with figures, a sprung maple floor suggesting a court of play - all viewed through an instrument mounted in a glass and concrete stand.
