The project, on a tight urban infill site, comprises of three distinct buildings - a locally listed 18th century timber frame building with a large late 19th century extension, plus an adjoining new build unit, which are to be developed as six studio / work units. The timber frame element of the building, which we discovered and identified during an initial feasibility study of the site, is a unique example in the Greater London Area of this type of construction: an agricultural building which is a granary store and cart shed. The scheme was the subject of numerous negotiations and discussions which took place over a five year period with English Heritage, the local Planning Authority and the developers. The timber frame structure and adjoining 19th century brick extension have been refurbished and await a new tenant.
